The sacrifice you gave goes forgotten,
Pushed underneath the carpet,
Everyone forget the gardens,
The everlasting stones.

I sit, stand, lie in unrest,
Try to make any sense,
Of the decision you made,
To carry the chevrons around.

The celestial escapes me,
But a kneel,
On a single knee,
I make a wish for thee.

On a date so special,
You should be with the ones you love,
Stand proud, I shall never forget,
That the 4rth, freedom, is because of you.

Where the valor with pride,
For there are but a few of you,
Walk the streets with head high,
Now it your country's turn to guard you!

thanks, I know the 4th of July is not exactly a day for the troops, but they are who defend our independence.
